Setting:
This book follows the events of “Arlo Finch in the Lake of the Moon”, and concludes the Arlo Finch trilogy. The main character of this book is Arlo Finch, a 12-year-old boy with supernatural powers. This book is told in third person, and the genres are fantasy and adventure.
Plot:
Arlo Finch is preparing for his most dangerous journey yet, traveling through the Long Woods, to retrieve his dad who lives in China. This journey goes well, but when Arlo returns, he receives a piece of news that changes everything. Thomas Alva Hadryn, a former Ranger with dark powers, has escaped. This is bad news for Arlo, because Hadryn is obsessed with Arlo, and is trying to kill him. On top of this, the government has figured out that Arlo’s dad is home, and have taken him into custody. Now is the time to mention Hadryn’s captors, the Eldritch. They are beings who live in the Realm, which is a world that uses spirits as batteries. To get to the Realm, you must travel through the Long Woods. Arlo visits the Eldritch with the hope that they can rescue his dad. But the Eldritch have wants of their own. They want Arlo to capture the spirt of Mirnos, one of the two great dragon spirits. Will Arlo save his family, escape Hadryn, and find some way to rescue Mirnos from the Eldritch?
Recommendation:
This book is very good, but I need to give a warning first. To escape, Hadryn bites off his own arm. I know, disgusting. I just wanted to let the reader know before they read the book. Anyway, I absolutely loved this book. It concluded everything for me so perfectly, but I want another book so bad! The characters dealt with all the problems well, and I loved the ending. This series was amazing, so read this epic conclusion!
