Setting:

This book takes place in Pine Mountain, Colorado, and follows the journey of a 12-year-old boy named Arlo Finch. This book takes place around modern times, and is told in 3rd person. It is a real-life fantasy-adventure novel, and is the first book in the “Arlo Finch” trilogy.

Plot:

Arlo Finch is forced to move to Pine Mountain, a tiny town in the middle of Colorado. He goes to school, and quickly makes friends with two kids, a boy named Wu, and a girl named Indra. Arlo’s new friends invite him to possibly the only good thing about Pine Mountain, the Rangers. The Rangers are like the Boy Scouts, but instead of only teaching about the natural, they also teach about the supernatural. Arlo learns that the mystical creatures come from a magical dimeson, called the Long Woods. Arlo expects to be a normal Ranger, and keep far away from the evils of the Wood, but he has no choice. A mysterious girl appears to him one day, and warns him of coming dangers. But she may have something to do with these unknown dangers too. Can Arlo brave the perils of the Long Woods, and survive?

Recommendation:

This book is very good! I love the main character, Arlo Finch, because he is a good character that did not ask for adventure, but got it anyway. The story flows well, and I like that. As a side note, I like book two more. So, read this one!
