Setting:

This book takes place in New York City, around modern times. The main character of this book is Percy Jackson, a teenage boy who is a son of the Greek God Poseidon. The genre of this book is fantasy, and it is told in first person. This is the last book in a five book series.

Plot:

Percy Jackson has been preparing himself for battle. The Titan Lord Kronos is fully awakened, and has found his host in Luke Castallen, who used to be Percy's friend. Kronos's monster army is making its way towards New York to destroy Olympus. The gods are distracted, and the only defense Olympus might have is Camp Half-Blood. (Camp Half-Blood is a camp for demigods, half god-half human.)After blowing up a ship full of monsters, Percy heads back to Camp Half-Blood to make the final prepartions. He hears the full Great Prophecy, which prodicts he's going to die. (The great prophecy predicts that "a child of the eldest gods', Zeus, Poisden, and Hades, will save or destroy Olympus, the home of the gods.) Before he goes to fight Kronos and his army, Percy goes on a little side quest with Nico de Angelo, a son of Hades .Nico tells Percy that he should bathe in the River Styx, which would make him practically invincible. They go to May Castellan's house, who is Luke's mother, to figure out what they need for it to work. (Luke bathed in the Styx so he could host Kronos.) After that, they go to Hades. Percy bathes in the River Styx, and after a quick battle with Hades's army, Percy has confirmation that he is practically invincible. He then goes to Camp Half-Blood, to take the demigods to New York to protect Olympus. The demigods make camp at the Empire State Buidling, where Olympus is. They divy up their troops and begin their last stand. The battle wages for a long time, with surprise reinforcements for the demigods and surprise monsters from Kronos. Even with all the extra help, will Percy still be able to take down the Titan Lord of Time?

Recommendation:

This was a very satisfying conclusion to an amazing book series. There is quite a decent bit of fantasy violence, but there is also a lot comedic humor that takes away some of the seriousness. I love all the characters and their different personalities, from Grover to Tyson. Most of the loose ends of the early books are wrapped up nicely, making for a great finale. This is one of the best fantasy books I've read, and I think you should check it out too.
