Author: Corrie Ten Boom

This book takes place during WWII, and follows the story of Corrie ten Boom. Corrie and her family hid Jews from the Nazis, and ultimately helped many people. However, they were eventually found out, and sent to concentration camps. This book describes WWII from the perspective of a Christain, and shows the horrors of concentration camps.


Author: John Steinbeck

This novella is about a Mexican man named Kino who finds a large pearl. He slowly becomes obssesed with the pearl, as does the rest of the town. Kino continues to hold on to the pearl, even after he is attacked. The story talks about greed and identiy, and does have some sort of a morale.
