The Giver is a book about a boy named Jonas. He grows up in a community were everything is bland and is devoid of true life. When Jonas turns 12, he is given the job of Receiver. He gains all the true memeories of the world from a man named the Giver, who has memories of pain and sadness, but also ones of color and love. Eventually, Jonas must choose who should have these memories, or if his world should stay the same.
