Setting:
This book takes place in the U.K. The main character of this book is Fort Fitzgerald, a 12-year-old boy who knows magic. The genres of this book are adventure and fantasy, and it is told in third person. This is the third book in the series, and this book takes place around modern times.
Plot:
At the U.K's school of magic for Time, students are said to have lost their minds and then mysteriously disappeared. Now, these students have returned, and have put up a mysterious black shield over the entire island of Britain. In return for lowing the shield, the students want Fort, Jia, and Rachel. The Oppenheimer School, now run by a military colonel named Colonel Charles, decides to attack the U.K's school of magic. However, this backfires, and the Time students capture Fort, Jia, and Rachel. However, the Time students intend no harm. Instead, they need Fort, Jia, and Rachel to keep the world from ending. The Time students that disappeared had gone into different places in the future, and saw the apocalypse. They need Fort, Jia and Rachel to go and find the book of Spirit magic, before Damian does. Now, in the last book, we find out that Damian is a dragon. He thinks he is the Chosen One, the person who will master all 6 types of magic, and defeat the Old Ones once and for all. (The 6 types of magic are Healing, Time, Mind, Destruction, Summoning, and Spirit.) However, the Time students have seen into the future, and seen that when Damian summons the Old Ones, he will die, and the Old Ones will take over the Earth. So Fort, Jia, and Rachel set off to go find the book of Spirit magic, before it is too late. The search for the book leads them to Avalon, which is ruled by the Faerie queen. Rachel becomes an Artorigios, a champion who wields the legendary sword Excalibur and is destined to fight the Timeless One. (The Timeless is the Old One of Time magic.) Will Fort find the book of Spirit magic before Damain? Or will Damian find it first and destroy the Earth?
Recommendation:
I liked this book better than the ones before it, for multiple reasons. First, it incorporated Arthurian legend. The way the sword Excalibur was incorporated was pretty cool. Second, there was a quest. I love fantasy books, but they are usually better with quests. (I've got nothing against Harry Potter though.) Lastly, it incorporated time travel. I am a fan of time travel, and the fact that it was magical time travel was even cooler. If you have enjoyed the series so far, I recommend you read this book.
